WWE RAW - 4/12 - Match Ratings

First time doing this, so here is how it goes. We are going to keep things simple. Ratings will be based on a scale of 1 - 10, with 10 being the highest rated match. I will also provide a brief comment on the match where applicable.

Here we go:

WWE Divas Championship
Maryse (c) vs. Eve Torres - Rating: 5

- Winner (and new Champion): Eve Torres by Pinfall. Thought this was a fairly solid women's wrestling match. I liked how they kept the match aggressive and on mat, rather than the usual acrobatic moves that make no sense.

D.H. Smith vs The Miz - Rating: 6

-Winner: The Miz by Pinfall. I feel that D.H. Smith needs to work on his foot speed more as he seems to need to work smoother in the ring. I think he is right on the edge of being techinically "sound", but he has got to slow down a bit and focus on telling a great story in the ring. The Miz, as usual, proved he is one of the better heels in the business (but he could also polish up a bit on his technique).

Evan Bourne vs. Carlito - Rating: 6

-Winner: Evan Bourne by Pinfall. Enjoyed the high-flying here, but these two could have put on a much better match. They are both very good in the ring, but it seems that WWE is content with making them jobbers (which hurt the match from the start).

John Cena vs. David Otunga - Rating: 4

-Winner: John Cena by Submission. Boring match consisting of two of WWE's weaker in-ring performers. I don't believe there were more than 5 moves/holds used throughout the match. Otunga is on NXT and is in no way ready for a RAW match.

Kofi Kingston vs. Sheamus - Rating: 7

-Winner: Kofi Kingston by Disqualification. Solid match that really put over Sheamus as both a storyteller and top heel on RAW. Glad they ended it in DQ; didn't want to see either lose. I haven't been a fan of Sheamus at all since he arrived, and it really bothered me that they pushed him to the top so quickly. However, I think that this match proves that both he and Kofi are heading in the right direction. I hope WWE takes note and makes sure to gradually push these two for two reasons: 1. The mid-card is practically dead and The Miz needs competition. 2. They still aren't quite there as far as being in the main event.

Jillian Hall & Rosa Mendes vs. Kelly Kelly vs. Gail Kim vs. The Bella Twins - Rating: 2

-Winner: The Bella Twins by Pinfall. Just another stupid Divas match, where the whole focus was a gimmick. With all the women they have, you would think the WWE could come up with a few different angles to have the women in more serious roles (not just those chasing the championship).

Batista vs. Randy Orton - Rating: 8

-Winner: Randy Orton by Disqualification. This was a very good match that I really enjoyed watching. Hoping that these two meet again at a major PPV in similar roles. Batista's heel role has become very solid and focused, while Orton is simply the best wrestler in the business today.

Transformers Film Aftermath

I must say that I was very impressed with the film. I enjoyed it thoroughly and can't wait for the 2 sequels (which they have confirmed). I was very surprised to see 6 of the Decepticons die, leaving only Starscream and Scorpinok to survive. However, I did feel that many of the Decepticons would fall and maybe even an Autobot. The Autobot to die was Jazz.

The only two questions about the film are: What happens since the Allspark was destroyed? and Why was there so much emphasis on the Humans' characters and not the Transformers? The answer to the former, I believe, is that the war rages for the control of Earth. Since Cybertron can't be saved, all of the Transformers will seek Earth for refuge. The Decepticons will obviously try to take it over, thus the battle continues on Earth. For the latter question, I believe that there was not enough time to fully "give character" to all the Transformers, thus this will probably be a major emphasis in the first sequel. I expect it to be more about the Autobots and Decepticons than about Human storylines.

Apparently, the writers are thinking of introducing the Dinobots and Constructicons in the first sequel. Also, they are going to add Soundwave as a main character.

My opinion is that they should have the 'Ark' bring in the rest of the Autobots and the 'Nemesis' bring in all of the Decepticons. It should be an all-out war.

New Transformers movie

I don't think words can describe just how excited I am about the new Transformers film. From what I gather, it will consist of 5 Autobots vs. 8 Decepticons. The list is as follows:

AUTOBOTS
-Optimus Prime
-Ironhide
-Ratchet
-Jazz
-Bumblebee

DECEPTICONS
-Megatron
-Starscream
-Blackout
-Barricade
-Bonecrusher
-Devastator
-Frenzy
-Skorpinok

The basis of the movie will consist of both sides searching for the 'Allspark'. This is similar to the 'Matrix' from the 1986 cartoon feature.

I suggest to all who would be interested in attending the movie -- to read the Prequel novel to the movie. It is titled, 'Transformers: Ghosts of Yesterday'. It is a very good prequel which serves as a good basis for where the movie's plotline begins.
